Clear terms for creating and reviewing a private Volume.

Purpose of the pilot

A Volume of Us currently provides a founding-pilot version of a private publishing Studio. It brings three structured automated disciplines into one guided workflow: Book Direction, Photograph Preparation, and Visual Book Design. The names describe what the process does; they do not represent three individually assigned people typing to the Creator live. One Creator can begin without payment, inspect a protected personalized Signature Preview, and decide whether to continue. Payment and ordering are not yet live.

Your permission and responsibilities

You must have permission to create the project and to use every photograph and memory you submit. Do not upload unlawful material or content that violates another person’s privacy, copyright, or other rights. New Baby projects must be created by an adult parent, guardian, or loved one. Memorial projects must be created by a living person.

Photo Atelier preparation is a reversible quality aid, not restoration or a guarantee that every source can fill every printed placement. An eligible source may receive a separate Print Master using a faithful rendition, restrained resampling, careful enlargement of no more than 2×, and mild print preparation. A screenshot crop is proposed only when exactly one photograph has clear, fully visible boundaries; otherwise the original is required. None of these paths recreates true missing detail. The immutable upload remains separate, post-crop resolution remains part of the quality decision, you approve the actual prepared version, and the final production candidate must still pass the stated resolution and format checks.

Editorial assistance is not a source of fact

Book Direction may analyze visual clues, ask questions, and help shape prose. Editorial suggestions can be incomplete or wrong. They must not be treated as proof of identity, relationship, location, date, quote, private feeling, or any other fact. The Creator must check names, dates, statements, point of view, and meaning before approving the story or Designed Proof.

Voice answers and confirmation

Optional onboarding voice replies may be processed once by our speech-recognition provider to fill editable text for the opening conversation and first photograph memory; those setup recordings are not saved with the Volume. You can replay them on your device, speak again, or correct the transcript yourself. Voice answers recorded later in the Studio may be stored and processed to recognize speech and prepare a concise source note. Recognition and summaries can be wrong. Replay your recording and confirm or correct the meaning before saving it. Only confirmed text is used as story source material; do not record material you do not have permission to share.

Studio recordings are private working inputs for recognition and replay while the written book is created. This pilot does not sell or promise a separate archival audio or voice-preservation product, and recordings are not included in the premium hardcover.

Your private Studio access

No account or password is required. The Creator may return with a one-time email note that expires after 15 minutes and creates a browser session lasting up to 30 days. The permanent fallback Studio link also grants project access and must remain confidential. Use “Forget this Studio on this browser” to remove the current session, and retain separate copies of all irreplaceable photographs and source material.

Founding Edition price and payment

The intended Founding Edition price is one clear $229 payment after you approve the complete Designed Proof. It includes the complete creative service, one 210 × 210 mm Signature Square Hardcover, production, and standard US shipping.

International shipping is calculated separately and shown before payment. Express delivery, customs duties, import taxes, and exceptional remote-area surcharges are not included. The current pilot displays a Checkout Preview only and does not accept payment or submit print orders.

Protected review and hardcover production

The Story Check supports private fact-checking from the saved story and available photograph previews. The Designed Proof is shown in a protected Studio viewer and is not offered as a client PDF download. A separate print-ready Production Master remains internal to the Atelier. Viewing or approving any of these does not place an order.

Before live ordering, the physical product, supported destination, production specifications, delivery terms, revision terms, and print-specific proof must be shown for explicit approval. No return-page redirect alone can confirm payment or release an order.

Early-service availability

Because this is an early founding-family pilot, features may be interrupted, revised, or removed. The service may limit projects, editorial turns, file size, photograph count, and storage to protect the pilot.
